Extensions for Alopecia: Real Options for a Condition That Deserves Them
Alopecia affects everyone who has it differently. For some people it's a couple of small patches. For others it's progressive, unpredictable, and emotionally exhausting in ways that are genuinely hard to describe. Whatever your experience looks like, you deserve real answers — not a brushed-off "we'll see what we can do."
We've worked with many clients with alopecia. Here's what we've actually learned.
The Type of Alopecia Matters
Androgenetic alopecia — gradual thinning over the top of the scalp — is actually one of the most workable situations for extensions. There's still enough distributed hair to build on, and the results can be dramatic.
Alopecia areata — patchy, circular loss from an autoimmune response — is more nuanced. We work around the affected areas, never placing extensions over patches where the scalp is sensitive or where regrowth might be trying to happen. The goal is to add density everywhere else while protecting what's underneath.
Alopecia totalis or universalis — complete hair loss — is a different conversation. When there's no natural hair to attach extensions to, a lacefront wig is going to give the most natural, beautiful result. We offer wig fittings too, and we'll always recommend what's actually going to serve you best, even if it's not extensions.
How We Approach It
For alopecia clients who are good candidates for extensions, non surgical hair replacement system are our preferred method — gentle, adhesive-free, repositionable, and kind to sensitive scalps. We place conservatively and precisely, adding density where it can be well-supported rather than everywhere at once.
We never recommend anything that adds tension to an already vulnerable scalp. That includes heavy fusion bonds or anything that creates ongoing pull at the root.
One More Thing
A lot of our alopecia clients tell us they've felt dismissed or rushed at other salons. We want you to know that won't happen here. We take the time to understand your specific situation, and we keep these conversations genuinely private.
